Women Storytellers You MUST Follow

I am sure you are wondering “Why are you starting this “Women storytellers you must follow” series. First of all, I love doin random challenges for no reason like the 27 Creative Lessons By 27 Challenge.  Secondly, in the spirit of me learning how to be a better storyteller, one of the best ways to do that is to have examples and learn from others.

If you are somebody who is trying to grow your craft of storytelling, I am hoping this “Women Storytellers You Must Follow” list can serve as inspiration.  Since it’s Black History Month and I’m Black not the opposite side  (if you watched pt 1, you’ll know what I am referencing hehe), I am starting with Black women. I will continually add unto this list for Women Crush Wednesdays so look out for a new video every Wednesday. If you want to follow along the episodes, check out my youtube playlist here.

I am choosing people not based on follower count but instead on storytelling style. So if there is someone you feel like deserves to be uplifted, feel free to shoot me a dm and let me know 🙂

1. Amani Richardson

women storytellers you MUST follow
  • If you are looking for a good “living alone” series, she is the one to follow. She has really taught me the power of a good voiceover and transitions
  • You can tell that she has put a lot of time in growing her craft. It genuinely feels like you are watching a movie.
  • Her vlogs be like an hour long which I am very IMPRESSED by because how she is editing those hour long videos with such great quality? This is the goal – to make hour long videos that are entertaining from beginning to end.

2. Eni Popoola

  • I find Eni’s editing to be very unique. She does a good job of blending her passion for fashion & beauty with storytelling. This is something, I haven’t seen quite often in the online space
  • She shows spurts of storytelling on her instagram. But if you wanna see the depths of her storytelling style, you gotta check out her youtube channel
  • She has taught me the beauty of slowing down. Storytelling doesn’t have to be fast paced with a lot of glitz and glam. It can be slow, calm & classy which perfectly matches her own style & presence
