why you should start creative accountability spaces

If you are reading this blog, this is your sign to start creative accountability spaces. I just started one and here is the backstory of how and why.
how wine & write started
My friend Kyah LaRoy (by the way she just released new music that you must check out here – and yes I put her album photo above to promote it too) were chatting and she brought up this desire to bring women together to just write, be chill and have good vibes. Ironically that same day I was thinking of same thing. What if there was a space for women to just come together to write. No stress & no high production quality event – just relax and have a good time. Then while were talking the name came to mind – “wine and write”.
Ironically, I don’t drink so it should be called “water and write”. But wine and write sounds cooler so wine and write it is!
creative accountability space = community
There is something different about doing creative activities with other people. Is it the ADHD? Maybe. But having a dedicated space to work on your craft can force you to work on something that maybe you have been procastinating. During the first wine and write, I was able to work on the youtube video script – something I was procastinating for a while. If we want to grow in our crafts, we need to space to do so and oftentimes community can make that better.
you're blesing someone by starting
Not going to lie – I didn’t think that creating wine & write was a big deal until I messaged someone recently. I invited her to the space and she said thank you, that this was an answered prayer. The creative accountability spaces you want to make may not be about you. It may be for someone else who needs it deeply.
start with little
As someone who has a history of hosting, planning and doing the absolute most for no reason (i.e. hosting my birthday dinner), it can be hard not to think big. But it’s so important to start small so you don’t overwhelm yourself. For example for this first wine and write I kept things simple. I thought about having 1-3 people, music and providing food. That’s it. The simpler the better. If you start too big and get dissapointed you may quit and never organize a creative accountability space again.
So this is your reminder to start what you don’t see. Create that creative accountability space amongst your friends, strangers, community members. Then watch your creativity and productivity grow.
