Best Black Owned Restaurants in Minneapolis: My Favorite

Want to find the best Black owned restaurants in Minneapolis to support? Well this is clickbait because what really is the best? It’s all subjective. But living here the past four years has given me some insight on my ‘best’ spots. I’ve posted my top 5 favorite spots below and will add this to the Black girl travel guide list here:

1. Klassics + C.R.E.A.M Cafe

3-Peat Wings in house dry rub

This place has taken my coins and left my bank account crying. I have come here WAY too many times. The food is pretty good. Warning though that it’s getting pricier. But if you do go, you MUST get the Crab Boil Wings which comes with wings and corn. If not that, then 3-Peat Wings in house dry rub. Their spirit free drinks are also delightful.

C.R.E.A.M Cafe is right beside it but closes earlier. Get you some coffee and a nice lil breakfast treat if you want.

2. Tap In

Mizo Glazed Salmon

Klassics is more for your “let’s be bougie & pretend we in Atlanta vibes”. But Tap In gives more true southern soul food vibes. Plus the place is just hella cute. They also have cute events so follow their instagram @tap.in.mn to see what’s up when you visit town.

3. The Camden Social

Think soul food again. In my opinion, Tap In and The Camden Social are similar but different. I don’t know how to describe it. I also love asking places what their most popular dish is. For them, it’s the spaghetti and catfish. So, of course I tried it and yes it was great!

4. Afro Deli

I overrate here when I first arrived because it was that good.  Think African Fusion. You MUST get their sambusas.  They also have multiple locations. So you have no excuse but to try them out.

5. Sammy's Avenue Eatery

Rest in Power Sammy 🙁 — the  owner who unforunately passed away last year ❤️. This is another spot I used to over order from for catering. The sandwhiches are not just some regular degular sanwhiches. I don’t know why but they are just really good. If you want a quick sandwhich this is the place to go!

OTHERS

Now that I’ve listed the best Black owned restaurants in Minneapolis.. in my own eyes, here is a list of other spots based on location/area of Minneapolis. Feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message if you have any questions about these spots 🙂
