ABOUT

Being a multifaceted creative

Hey y'all! I'm Ayomide, a 27 year old from North Carolina trying to carve out my own creative path

When I was younger, I aspired to be the youngest ever author. I am not sure where that desire came from but I I’ve always loved to write. In college, I had put my head down grinding away but in my last year had the blessed opportunity to write for Charcoal – a magazine for students of color.  I’ve written pieces on broad range of things from medium publications to op-eds about justice. I haven’t written in a while and I deeply miss it but I’m more than just a writer. I’m also learning what life is like being a multifaceted creative because I like SOOO many things.

The pressure of this world makes us (and when I mean us, I mean myself) loose sight of our multifaceted and creative spirits. As an 18 year old I definitely let that part of me die for a little bit while I was pursuing a career that is the exact opposite of my creative soul. As I am still pursuing this path, while slowly entering my late 20s I want to embrace this creative spirit and my youthful dreams again.

For so many years I have put an undue pressure on myself to fit in a box. When I don’t see somebody doing something I desire to do, I’ve stopped myself. But life is wayyy too short & I don’t wanna do that  no more. So I want to join y’all along the journey while also helping you be more creatively free in life.

While watching a video, I heard a girl describe herself as an all around creative so that’s what Imma call myself and use this blog space as an opportunity for me to be. Cheers to no longer putting ourselves in invisible boxes!

Fun fact: when I was 18 years old, I wanted to start a blog. This blog is me re-engaging in something that was my escape as a kid – writing. However, instead of doing it to advocate for something, write about justice, or write for some other purpose, this is my space to write for me. To go back to my roots to as a kid, my first love – writing. I hope that as you read, you feel uplifted, inspired, more loved & less lonely today. Welcome to my space to be Artfully Living & Authentically Ayomide 💕
